I think the PS3 Netflix app is causing havoc with the resolution settings. My problem was a tad bit similar. So, Netflix on my PS3 and PS4 specifically seem to be having this weird grainy distortion. It doesn't happen on the same TV using the TV's Netflix app, and this grain doesn't appear in games or on blurays on either my PS3/PS4. Nor does it happen when watching regular cable.
